Sleep Is Essential
For a great portion of my life I slept for an average of 4–5 hours. It’s truly sickening. I thought that if I was going to succeed I needed to put my work over my sleep. I was young and malleable. My senior year of high school my schedule was ridiculous. Let’s run through it.
4:30am — 5:15am — Workout (very quietly in my room lol)
5:15am— 6:30am — Breakfast and leave for school
6:30am — 2:00pm — School Activities
2:30pm — 5:00pm — Sports
5:15pm — 6:45pm — Travel, Pick-up Siblings, Gas, Grocery/Foods
6:45pm — 8:00pm — Shower/Dinner
8:00pm — 10:00pm — School Work (if i did study) and whatever
10:00pm-12:00am — Lay in the bed on my phone and not sleep 😭
Pure madness (smh). In reflection I could see that I did not use my time wisely but I was also burnt out before the day even began. Sleeping 4 hours, going straight to a workout, then being bored in school for hours. No wonder 🥴 why I slept in first block classes. I was young, and malleable, that’s the only reason it worked. My belief was so strong in it, I could see no other way. I was lost in Eric Thomas videos and “wanting it bad as I could breathe” lol. Falling victim to simple marketing traps because I was desperate to change my reality. I had people in my life telling me I should prioritize sleep but there wasn’t assistance in my executive function. Somwhere between ages 6–8 I began having control over my schedule and in many situations had to be independent of guidance. Sleeping only 4 hours is very childish and irresponsible. Thank God I was able to power through it. Now I can barely function without at least 6–7 hours of sleep. Improvement. Sleep is essential.
Thanks for your time! Check out my portfolio — ericwrightjr.com and my digital product site galacticla.com. I’m building out some fire tools. The site is not done but I love testing in public. I created both websites using Notion + Super.so (tutorial coming soon). Peace ✌🏾 and love 🤎🖤.
